2026 Resolution Results

The following resolutions were approved at the Senate District 62 convention and will be submitted to the state convention for consideration. If passed, they will be incorporated into the party platform.

ICE OUT: Accountability

The Minnesota DFL supports a proper investigation into the deaths of Minnesota residents at the hands of ICE and Border Patrol conducted by state and local law enforcement.
Boundary Waters Permanent Protection

In order to protect the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and Voyageurs National Park, two of Minnesota’s great natural treasures. from pollution, impairment, and destruction, we support a ban on sulfide-ore copper mining on lands in the watershed of the Boundary Waters.
Indigenous Treaty Rights

Supports Minnesota upholding treaties with Indigenous tribes, including those involving wild rice, which are considered “supreme law of the land” under the U.S. Constitution.
Tax the Rich

The Minnesota DFL supports making Minnesota’s tax system more progressive by creating a fifth income tax tier for very high incomes, closing tax loopholes, and ensuring large profitable corporations and large nonprofit entities pay their fair share through appropriate taxes and fees.
Climate Action through Green New Deal

Support a Green New Deal to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions through a fair and just energy transition by investing in infrastructure, efficiency, and industry across the state.
Protect the right to protest

The MN DFL supports the right to protest and exercise the 1st amendment right to free speech by banning the use of LRAD devices, tear-gas and other chemical crowd control measures.
Transparency of ICE/CBP agents

Individuals operating as ICE or CBP will present themselves professionally by refraining from wearing face masks, driving unmarked vehicles, and presenting valid identification.
Impeachment of President Trump

Urges impeachment of President Donald Trump for seeking financial profits through his powers, abusing emergency powers, erasing American history, rejecting diversity, and other abuses of presidential powers.
Protect Communities from Data Centers

We support a comprehensive statutory framework-up to and including a moratorium on the construction of new hyperscale data centers-to ensure that Minnesota’s energy, water, fiscal resources, communities, and democratic processes are protected before any such facilities may proceed; and that such a framework must require full public transparency and engagement, robust environmental review in the form of Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), clear siting standards, equitable economic policy, and enforceable guarantees that Minnesota’s climate and carbon-free energy goals, natural resources, and people-not corporations-determine the future of data center development in our state.
Free Electronics Recycling

Support providing free collection of electronic waste for all Minnesotans to increase the electronic waste recycling rate to conserve precious metals and keep this material out of traditional waste disposal streams where it causes pollution and endangers workers.
Rights to Gender Affirming Care

Amend the section on Civil, Human, and Constitutional Rights to include the rights of trans, non-binary, and two-spirit individuals to access gender-affirming care.
Demilitarize local and state law enforcement

The DFL calls for the demilitarization of local and state law enforcement agents, including banning, acquisition, use, and deployment of tear gas, LRADs, chemical agents, and other weapons prohibited by international laws.
Minnesota Climate Superfund

The Democratic Party supports legislation that will recover the costs of extreme weather damages from the very large polluters whose greenhouse gas emissions have caused them.
Reducing Waste & Food Insecurity

Supports Minnesota addressing food insecurity by prioritizing food waste reduction, supporting food rescue organizations, and expanding local composting programs.
Repeal Minnesota’s Anti-Boycott Laws

Be it resolved that the DFL affirms its commitment to the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which protects the right of free speech, by including the repeal of anti-boycott laws, Minnesota statutes 3.226 and 16c053, in the DFL platform.
ICE OUT

The Minnesota DFL supports abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Protect Personal Data

Ban/Prohibit Sale of precise geolocation data and other sensitive data.
Worker-Centered Safeguards for AI

The Minnesota DFL supports worker-centered safeguards for AI in employment, including: collective bargaining for AI deployment, notice and appeal rights for workers, independent testing for discriminatory impacts, strict limits on AI-enabled surveillance, accountability for harms caused by workplace AI, and worker-centered standards in public procurement and contracting.
Transition to 32-hour Workweek: Overtime

The Minnesota DFL supports strengthening overtime protections by requiring all employers to pay at least time-and-a-half for all hours worked over 40 hours in a seven-day period, without exemptions that exclude workers.
Repeal the Laken-Riley Act

The Minnesota DFL calls for the immediate repeal Of the Laken Riley Act.
Supporting Disability Justice Framework

Add to the DFL Platform: The Minnesota DFL Party affirms to follow a disability justice framework that centers equity for multi-marginalized disabled people, including disabled people who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color; immigrants regardless of status; disabled LGBTQ+ people; women and gender-expansive people; people living in poverty; unhoused; disabled people who are incarcerated or impacted by the criminal legal system; disabled people in rural communities; and disabled people facing compounded discrimination.
Keeping People With Disabilities In Their Communities, Not Institutions

The Minnesota DFL Party supports fully funding disability services that keep disabled Minnesotans in their own homes and communities, not institutions, affirming the community-integration mandate of Olmstead.
Eliminate qualified immunity

In the state of Minnesota the principle of qualified immunity shall no longer exist. Law enforcement shall be liable for civil damages, personally and as part of their agency, for violation of civil liberties and rights.
Update Workplace Standards for Remote Work

Support updating Minnesota law and workplace standards to protect work-from-home and remote work arrangements, including bargaining over eligibility, schedules, and monitoring, and ensuring fair treatment.
Corporations and Elections in MN

Minnesota laws be amended that they shall not be interpreted as granting corporations the power to expend anything of value, directly or indirectly, to influence elections. Corporations shall otherwise continue to have all powers necessary for business operations, charitable activity, advocacy, and lobbying.
End Slavery in Minnesota

The DFL supports bills to end slavery in Minnesota’s constitution and prisons by reclassifying incarcerated people from slaves to employees.
End Subminimum Wage For Disabled Workers

The Minnesota DFL Party supports ending subminimum wages for disabled workers and ensuring disabled workers are paid at least the full minimum wage.
Direct election of the President

Supports direct election of the President and Vice President of the United States by popular vote through the repeal of portions of Article 2 and Amendment 12 of the Constitution regarding the Electoral College.
Social Security Expansion Act (SSEA)

Supports the passage of the Social Security Expansion Act to make Social Security solvent, fair, and equitable for 75+ years by raising the taxable income cap to $250,000.
Protecting Seniors from Abuse

The DFL advocates for legislation, policies, and programs that keep seniors safe by: Reducing the threat and incidences of gun violence; Reducing the occurrence of physical and psychological abuse; Reducing the incidence of Elder Financial Exploitation (EFE).
Eviction Moratorium

The DFL Party of Minnesota supports a statewide eviction moratorium to support all individuals and families impacted by the federal invasion of our state.
Protect Dark Skies of Minnesota

Support steps to protect and improve the dark skies of Minnesota, including reducing light pollution, restoring nighttime darkness, and promoting efficient, non-intrusive lighting practices.
Medical Aid in Dying

Support Medical Aid in Dying (MAID), allowing terminally ill, mentally capable adults to have access to end-of-life options to make decisions that are best for them and their families. MAID is available in 12 states and Washington DC.
Elected Officials Banned from Signing NDAs

Support legislation banning elected officials at any level of government from signing non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).
ICE OUT

The Minnesota DFL supports the dismantling of the Department of Homeland Security.
Transition to 32-hour Workweek

The Minnesota DFL supports transitioning to a 32-hour standard workweek-where 32 hours is full-time­with no reduction in weekly pay or benefits.
Health Impact Assessments for EIS

Support requiring a Health Impact Assessment to understand how a proposed project will affect people’s health whenever an Environmental Impact Statement or Environmental Assessment Worksheet is required.
Community Control of Police

Law enforcement be placed into the control of an elected civilian board representing the communities the law enforcement agency serves.
Reducing Waste & Food Insecurity

Support eliminating organic material from landfills and incinerators across Minnesota.
Supporting membership in NATO, UN

This body supports the continued membership of the United States in NATO (the North Atlantic Treaty Organization) and the United Nations.
